Welcome to the website for the BA (Hons) Contemporary Creative Practice at Leeds Metropolitan University.
The course promotes opportunities for interdisciplinarity, and diversity, actively reflecting the increasingly open nature of Art practice in contemporary culture.
It pays particular attention to the uses of photography, digital video, sound, performance, text and print based processes, and the importance of interaction and collaboration.
The course is ideas-based and emphasises the development of intellectual and practical skills that are appropriate to Art activity and transferable to other contexts.
It promotes the integration of theory and practice, and the development of analytical, reflexive and critical approaches to contemporary Art practices, and their location within wider and cultural situations.
Milliseconds exhibits students responses over the last six weeks to a 'manual'. The 'manual' is a document of questions and tasks intended to help the students form an understanding of contemporary practice and introduce them to strategies, methods and approaches for making work.
"22nd Century Portraits" was a series of moving image works presented on the BBC Big Screen in Leeds in late March/early April 2007.
